Change Fort Wayne wants to know your opinion on the best strip malls in Fort Wayne?
Do you like the swanky strip malls of Aboite and Pine Valley?
Or do you prefer the old school strip malls like Washington Square?
Which strip malls have the shortest walk or the best parking lot?

I like Leo Crossing. They have a bar called "The Bar."
The parking is great and there are no trees taking up any parking spaces.
Gotta love Chapel Ridge. Those parking lots are bigger than any I've seen out of new developments. There's probably more parking taking up land space than stores, which is a good sign! Parking should always be designed for overflow and never for the minimum actually needed by the store.
Coldwater Crossing is the best. HUGE parking lot.
Super Wal Mart and Old Country Buffet.
It doesn't get any better
But of course we all drive from Old Country Buffet to the Super Wal-Mart, it is waaay to far to consider walking.
Man, I love Super Walmart, thats where I met my wife - Balinda
I hate waiting in line at Old Country Buffet. Could they at least install some benches?
Or maybe some pagers so I can wait in my car.
I heard they are going to put a Scientology Church with a drive thru at the old Cub Foods in Coldwater Crossing.
I nominate Northwood.
Maybe I'm biased as I grew up in Northeast Fort Wayne, but what parking lot gives you as much as Northwood? Ample parking (unless it snows and the mounds of snow take up 30% of the spots) for eveyrone that HAS to drive to all locations, even though it may be just down the street. The parking lot is within walking distance to a Super Target, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, McDonalds, Rallys, Walgreens, and several banks. I believe there is a bar called "Barn and Grill" and lets not forget Cinema Grille. There is a drive through ATM, drive up post office drop, many fast food drive up windows and even a drive up window to get your prescription from Wallgreens! What a car friendly shopping center. I <3 Northwood.
I cant really decide, is there anyway to vote for them all? I love them all, and usually have to visit quite a few to ensure that I am getting everything I need. I also really dont want to make any of the SMs feel inadequate.
Does anyone remember the old school Northcrest Shopping Center?
The parking was great
shoot, lets bulldoze Elmhurst. make that baby a parking lot for those quarry workers.
Better yet...use the remnants of Elmhurst for parking lots all over the city.
The Libertarians would love it
Only if the new Elmhurst shopping center will be named after James Hardy could I endorse that idea. Other than that, I think all of us here feel that the more strip malls the better.
You all should send some of these posts to our City Council. They actually think that we can pour money into Downtown Fort Wayne ADN continue to allow strip malls to be built everywhere...
Heck they just approved two more on the north side of Fort Wayne...
Did you hear we are getting our 5th Wal Mart?
I am not sure that I can point to a strip mall that I dislike the most; there are so many...
I think I would go for Coldwater Crossing...

Why do you think Libertarians want Parking Lots?
I am most likely the only person with a blog in Fort Wayne who thinks we shuold limit development on the edges of Fort Wayne...

Mike,
Thanks for your comments.
As you can tell, we despise strip malls and everything that comes with them.
I did not know about a 5th wal-mart coming in, but wow, keep coming back. We're just getting this thing started and appreciate the comments!
Sorry Mike - Much like your blog, here at Change Fort Wayne we do not answer questions directly, but in round about ways.
Why do we think Libertarians would like parking lots? Well that statement was issued by an anonymous guest, so I cant speak for his opinion, but it has been my experience if we were to build something under a libertarian budget, all we would be able to afford is a flat patch of farm land with asphalt on it.
I prefer spending beyond my means and lavish things, but hey, thats just me.
But for the Walmart - it looks like new expanded Carrol will not be the only thing that can pack 3000 people in like cattle on the North West side. I cant wait for people to flip out when that school hits max capacity again - so they'll have another 100M problem on their hands.
