Why on earth does Fort Wayne need a ZOO? Indianapolis has a zoo, Detroit has a zoo, Chicago..you guessed it, they have a zoo (multiple zoos in fact). Toldeo has a zoo, Cleveland has a zoo as well. Why do we need to support a Zoo in Fort Wayne when there are so many within driving distance? You'd think this money could be better spent on things such as investing in Applebee's, shopping centers, and anything else that will spur quality economic growth and good paying jobs.
Moving slightly off topic, what is with all the art crap downtown? Who actually GOES to see that stuff? More wasted space of what could be shopping malls and chain restaraunts. What gives?

I agree 100%. Bulldoze the zoo and open another Applebees.

Fort wayne doesnt need any more amenities
we've always been a transportation hub. people can drive 3 hours to everything they want to do in those other cities
The best move the Zoo ever made was bulldozing all those trees and expanding the parking lot.
Can you imagine what would happen if people had to take public transportation to the Zoo?
we need fast rail here so we can high tail it out of town to go see attractions. Why do we need attractions here?
Did you see the latest waste of money they are putting in at the zoo? A freakin ski lift. Ridiculous. It is going to cost over a half mil. Things are good as they are we dont need to wast any more money.
I will grant you that this "ski-lift" gig will bring a slew of lawsuits from people "falling" out of them....
But as far as losing the Zoo? Nah...I like going there every few years....
It's refreshing to see how animals SHOULD behave, as opposed to those that are living in my neighborhood (in all those rentals), and DON'T know how to behave.
Not to mention that the animals in the ZOO are privately funded, and not collecting welfare checks from taxpaying people!
