Dear John,
I assure you that the four lane streets (same as Coliseum) leading out of downtown will be able to scurry you out of the urban nightmare into your suburban bliss. Here's an thought- stay a while - go get a bite to eat, go drink a beer. I realize this is a foreign idea due to there not being anything in the immediate vicinity of the current stadium, causing you to immediately jump in your car and funnel out of the parking lot.
At the coliseum and stadium, what we have are and EXIT time. At the end of the game, everyone gets into their car and leaves. Much like a high school, when the bell rings people run out to leave, causing delays. Now, if everyone has after school activities, then people leave at staggered times, thus no delays.
I don't know why you all are worried about traffic jams though, if this thing is going to be such a bust, then there should only be about 20 cars there anyway, right?
So John, leaving Harrison Square shouldn't be worse than when the Wizards, the Gun & Knife show, and the Komets are all in town.
P.S. I didn't realize that Harrison Square was going to lead to roaming gangs of criminals in the streets.

Yeah, I've never understood how the naysayers expect there to be no-one at the games AND bad traffic at the same time.
Pick one of the doom and gloom events over the other.
A traffic jam downtown would be a better sign of activity and change than the mostly empty streets we currently have nights and weekends.
I have no problem walking to JK O'Donnells and waiting it out over a pint if necessary. We don't have that option at Memorial Stadium. You can either wait in your car or wait outside of your car.
god have these people ever been outside of fort wayne? There are other thriving cities that deal with these minor inconveniences every day.
This blog or whatever you call it is full of jibberish. Lots and lots of jibberish

Did you mean to write gibberish ?
If you so, I strongly disagree.
I believe gobbledygook is a more accurate description.
Do people REALLY think going to downtown FW is horribly dangerous? Really? Seriously. Have they ever been anywhere else? You know, where there is stuff going on downtown, where people pay for parking because that's how it's done when there are engaging and entertaining events that bring people to the area.
They'd probably be happy if they put Wolf and Dessaur's back downtown. You know, from the 50s when life was good.....
The Miserable Minority of Fort Wayne will never be happy, and they want to make damn sure no one else is happy, either.
Downtown has free Citilink every 7-9 minutes from 11:15-1:15 to lunch venues Monday thru Friday. What a great idea.
On H.S., I'm not an advocate towards the public paying 50% of the bonds to a 50% private finance business' being built downtown. It might work or it might not.
We are all shareholders now, like it or not. The main difference is if it succeeds will Fort Wayne tax-payers receive a return on investment in the form of lowering taxes? I doubt it. Will the other business' get a return...of course.
What will happen to the strolling mentally ill folks that wonder, pander and want friends downtown.
Are they going to hang-out in front of H.S. now? I don't blame them because downtown is their home. Yet this is a small 10-20 block raduis city to absorb the downtown elements that survive come evening and weekends.
I'm sure in another 5 years it will all work out.
My friend Jimmy Corn has lived downtown for years and years. He is not happy about Harrison Square. In fact, he doesn't want any part of it. This should have been built where current infastructure is already in place. Places like the Pines Valleys area and Aboite area. It would also mean a shorter drive for most of the population that lives in Pines Valleys and Aboite. Why make them pay higher gas prices to get to Harrison Square.
Has anyone thought where the players will live. I bet most will live in Pines Valleys/Aboite Square. Again, they will be forced to pay higher gas prices to drive to the Harrison Square area. Will the players get free parking? It will be hard for them to park on gamedays and they will most likely not want to walk and tire their legs before games. Is this part of the plans?
Will the churches still be getting buy one get one free? I don't think that was discussed in the new plans.
Please respond in your next journal entry.
Thanksssss very much.
I think you're drastically overestimating the salaries of minor league baseballers. Last I knew, they made something in a neighborhood somewhere south of
$10k per year.
"Pines Valleys" (Pine Valley, I think) and "Aboites" require significantly more household revenue than that. Let's be completely honest here, though. Is there really any place in Fort Wayne that's more than a 15 minute drive to downtown? If there are any, they certainly are not abundant. My wife drives over 100 miles a day going to work and back. Pine Valley to downtown Fort Wayne is within easy bike riding distance compared to that.
In response to what local sports players make and where they live;
I'm sure it's a choice on where in the community they decide to reside. Wizards and Komet players
live all around Allen County and most work another job for sure.
Some of our sports players are
amoung Fort Wayne's finest fire-fighters.
