My Hilarity of the day

Editorials Today

In the last year, we have had two major pieces of legislation pass through the City Council. One was the smoking ban and the other was approval of the Harrison Square project. While I am not a smoker, I disagree with the smoking ban. It has treated the smokers of this city like lepers and it has negatively affected many of the bars and clubs in the city. The Harrison Square project is a total waste of taxpayers' money. It was forced down the throats of the citizens of this city, many of whom did not want it.

The City Council who voted for these two measures has a combined experience in public office of 92 years, the average being 11.5 years. These measures that were voted in are bad for the businesses and taxpayers of Fort Wayne.

In recent years, this city has seen many big businesses downsize or close their offices in Fort Wayne. General Electric, Dana, Magnavox, AON and Lincoln Life are just a few examples. Mayor Richard has touted the fact that we have brought other jobs to the city. Places like Wal-Mart and Menard's have opened locations in the place where Southtown Mall was located. These jobs are fine, but how many jobs do you think it would take someone to replace a job from the five businesses I named.

The city has been run by Democratic mayors for quite some time, the only exception being the RINO (Republican in Name Only) Paul Helmke who went to school with Hillary Clinton and now works for the gun-control lobby. As a result, our taxes are so high that businesses do not want to settle here anymore. The solution that the experienced politicians have come up with is to put more money into downtown. I haven't heard of a great influx in business for the Grand Wayne Center since it was remodeled. I also do not believe that anyone will want to stay at a Residence Inn downtown when we already have many hotels close to I-69. Who wants to go through the maze that is the downtown traffic system?

I think … Fort Wayne needs a person with fresh ideas and bold new plans. That person is Matt Kelty.
Wyatt Wooten

First, would someone please please please please tell me how the funding of Harrison Square will personally have an affect on their pocket books.

Secondly, Harrison square was not shoved down our throats, take a look at the city's blueprint, blueprint plus, and all the other initiatives that have been written and approved over the years, so are people just upset we are actually following through with the grand master plan that's process for completion was so drawn out and carefully thought out?

Thirdy, I'm a little afraid that there might be a little disturbance in the Wooten house hold, but Wyatt is a blogger for the conservatives for kelty blog
Keeping in mind some factual errors in today's editorial, here is a post from Wyatt's wife -

Mrs. Pot, meet Mr. Kettle

Finally, I'm pretty sure that they aren't building a Residence Inn downtown. But I could be wrong, after all I have been making that assumption on what the media had to say about the new hotel. I know how much these two hate when you do that.

"Who wants to go through the maze that is the downtown traffic system?"

I'm scared of the traffic confusion. I mean Jefferson goes into downtown from 69 and Washington goes back out.

I don't get this silly traffic contraption.

One Wooten blog is not enough for me, I'm glad their being represented in other media. Woot!Woot!

I wonder if Wyatt and Dawn compare their drafts.

Is Kelty hiring speech writers?

Apparently a grid street system based on 90 degree turns is just too complicated for some people.

The Wootens need to GET THEIR FACTS STRAIGHT, because we are getting a Courtyard by Marriott, NOT a Residence Inn

I cannot take it any more! I am so off the charts frustrated with these repeated letters to the editor written by people who are only making judgements based on what the media has to say. Before you consider writing an editorial or letter to the editor, GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!

I'M GOING TO LOSE MY MIND!!!! THESE LETTERS ARE SO STUPID!!

First, give some examples where businesses have gone from Fort Wayne to other cities of the same or larger size because our taxes are too high - that's absurd. These companies either went out of business, were acquired or moved to more strategic locations.

Second, your taxes are going up partially because the city has to provide services to much larger land base. We must infill and revive downtown and stop urban sprawl. The farther out people go the more roads, lights, services, have to be built and maintained over a larger area: that all equals more taxes. It has nothing to do with Democrats. If you are so simple minded that you think this is a Democrat versus Republican thing you should get your head checked (or maybe consider getting an education)

Back when Kelty was locked-up for campaining dirty, the Woot-Wootens baked Kelty a Kake with a file in it. But they got lost in the maze-that-is-downtown and kouldn't find the Kourthouse or the Kounty lock-up to save Kelty.

The Wootens look like kool-aid drinkers.

Kelty's ideas are bold and fresh... now there is a good one.
