My League

Why are the Komets in a lower level minor league? Last years attendance of 7588 would have put the Komets at number 6 in the best minor league for hockey, the AHL.

The Franke's need to move the team to the AHL and give the fans good competitive hockey again. We definitely have the support to garner a high league team. I just wish the Franke's would do something about it. I dont think it makes sense to not offer the best possible competition to the city. I sure do miss the days when a guy would play for the Komets and then be in the Stanley Cup Finals a couple years later. I haven't seen that for a while now.

To throw water on the subject here: the Komets don't want in the AHL because of the high cost of travel, and also I think our arena is too small for the AHL.
Yes I'd love to see a big league in Fort Wayne but do you want to pay 60 bucks a game????

$60 bucks a game? That sounds a little high...

Hershey charges $15.50 - $21.50
Scranton $17.50 - $33.75
Chicago $9.00 - $33.00

That took me 2 minutes of research. How long did it take you to come up with $60? Dumb ass.

This subject has been beaten to death many many times in the Komet blogs. The fact that the Komets down own the stadium(meaning missing out on parking, concessions, etc) hurts the cause as well. And lets face it, the Frankes are great at finding talent. Moving to the AHL means they will be assigned talent. This league fits them as GMs, and the decision is theirs. Personally, I dont care. If theres hockey in Fort Wayne, I'll watch it.

Anonymous 529,
Are you planning to attend events alone? Perhaps, Juan plans to buy two tickets. Be nice for Pete's Sake and stop the name calling.

The new IHL is a joke. Attendance will be down. Mark my words. Go ahead and write it down.

I agree. I love hockey but I just dont see people continuing to go to games to see the Komets playing the same 5 teams over and over. Does the regular season even matter? Who gets into the playoffs, everyone?

The Frankes have a great deal here in Fort Wayne. They charge AHL rates and pay for UHL (now IHL) talent. We pay MORE for tickets than AHL Peoria. The Coliseum is larger, and draws more, than many of the AHL teams. They can complain all they want about AHL travel costs as they count the money they're making. There is no reason for them to even consider changing leagues.
