My Hundreds

Capacity turnout welcomes details on Harrison Square

"Hundreds of people packed Grand Wayne Center on Thursday evening to get the latest glimpse of condominiums, retail and the baseball stadium aspects of Harrison Square."

"The vast majority of the 300 people at the open house expressed support for the project and dozens expressed an interest to live in the condominiums even though prices weren’t revealed and final floor plans haven’t been completed."

"City Councilman Tom Smith, R-1st, attended the meeting to learn about the design of the condos and ballpark, and he said he got what he expected.“It’s beautiful,” he said. “It has to be. Failure is not an option. This has to work.”

"Smith voted against the $120 million project, but said he was encouraged by the amount of support shown at the meeting."

Wow, that's it? After that many days of inactivity the first post is a "cut and paste" from the JG?

Copy everyone else - CFW truly has the Fort Wayne mindset now.

The broken record spins again .....

Welcome back...I interpret the recent posts that You Were Missed.
I hope your break was good to you and was entirely based on the fact that it is SUMMER.
(For some reason those who pretend to hate reading this blog have rushed to read this blog pretty often during your down time. Aren't they funny?)
This post is timely for me--I just drove past the soon-to-open Regional Police and Fire Training Center located near the lively and succesful Southtowne Center. It brought back vivid memories of the same skeptics and progress fearers on City Council and blogsters who were persistent and annoying naysayers on that project as well. Same tune, same players--still wrong.

This is from the local hybrid TV news station, but ran in all media:

"Fort Wayne Wizards. They play a home game at Memorial Stadium at the same time Women of Faith gets underway.
If you are going to either event, Coliseum officials ask you to carpool. They also recommend getting a good head start in case you do run into traffic backups or parking problems."

Remember the first event that the newly expanded Mem Coliseum held during a Wizards game? Headlines of outrage by citizens because who had no where to park and missed the event! The answer? Try not to schedule a large event when there is a home game--but when necessary ask the paying public to carpool, walk or leave very early (just bring a picnic).

GOOD THING the Memorial Coliseum can book big events at will after Harrison Square is open. (And perhaps, too, the Coliseum can suspend that ever-rising parking fee promised initially to be ‘temporary’)

I believe the people who are constantly degrading your web-site are Kelty people. You are the only people with a web-site who can see through that man and aren't afraid to print the truth. There are alot of people who appreciate your wit and insight and we hope you continue your work. Keep it up.

SYLVESTER FOR CONGERSS

I'm one of those "Kelty people" who enjoys visiting CFW (and it's not to degrade it). If you're going to make blanket statements attacking our integrity and character, at least have the courage to use your name.

FWT,
Which ones exactly are the "progress fearers" on the City Council. The 3 councilmen who voted against HS all had pet projects that they wanted funding for.

Dave,
Explain exactly why you want the anon poster to sign his or her name or why you think it would take 'courage'--are you infering that there would reason to be fearlful if you knew the name? Why do you want the info--what would you gain from or use that it for?
A person's desire for privacy is much more understandable to me than a person's desire to see his own name and photo in print so often.

And your post doesn't make sense at all. First, no one attacked anyone's integrity. Second, you make it clear that you are not guilty of what the poster was complaining of--so he or she wasn't talking about you in the first place.
Be careful, Dave (insert photo), the Kelty rally cry claiming "everyone is attacking for no reason" can become a habit.

Signed,
Another Poster Whose Name You Don't Need.

Robert,
I am talking about the naysayers who said Southtowne Center would fail and tried to stop it--and those who are still on Council who said the same thing about HS.
Pet projects do not equal progress--esp not on the same scale as ST or HS.

Making unsubstantiated accusations that it's "Kelty people" who degrade CFW is attacking integrity. Lumping all of Matt's supporters and campaign workers into a category of people who wish ill upon CFW is unfair. I work for Matt's campaign. I do enjoy reading the generally thoughtful posts found here. I have never posted a derogatory comment on this blog, and doubt very much other "Kelty people" have either. I can tell you with certainty that Matt would never condone his supporters degrading CFW, or anyone for that matter.

Too often we rely on the label (Kelty people, republican, democrat, libertarian) and forget there are real people behind them. I include my name and photo to personalize my posts - so readers may identify a thought with a real person, rather than some nameless, faceless "Kelty person."

As for the anonymous reference, it's certainly one's prerogative to maintain anonymity. It does make it difficult to have a meaningful dialog (is "anonymous" one poster or several?). Of course I don't NEED to know anyone's name. My "courage" remark was a challenge - if the poster really believes what they write, give the thought credibility by including their name.

I do wish we could set aside political differences, stop the overgeneralizations, join together and Change Fort Wayne for the better.

Dave, you are working for the wrong guy if you are looking to change fort wayne for the better. Open your eyes.

So AWB is no longer a Kelty Person? Or is AWBs normal CFW bashing not considered derogatory? Dave you seem like a nice guy which makes your little anonymity challenge seem so two faced. If some of the people who write here actually used their real names AWB would have them personally and publicly smeared from here to kingdom come. Look what he did to that Heather Schoegler girl and there was never even a whisper of evidence that she did actually did anything except maybe working for someone AWB doesn't like. AWB is a scumbag and I am not ashamed to remain anonymous because of him. If I ever decide to start a family they will thank me for making that choice now.

AWB and Kelty are both scary people.

Dave MacDonald said...

It appears your issue is with AWB specifically not "Kelty people" in general. Thanks for the clarification.

Peace.

I saw a fundraising letter from Kelty last week that ended with the phrase "Dont let Graham Richard Mortgage our future"

How ironic given the JG headline this morning. Has this man lost his mind?

Anonymous said...

Kelty's arrogance will stop at nothing to get him elected. Even if it means taking food out of his children's mouths. He should be ashamed of himself. No office is worth this mess he brought upon himself. And his family.

Anonymous said...

Talk about mortgaging your family's future for your own enormous ego. Pull you head out of the sand Kelty supporters! You want this guy to run the city the way he has run his campaign and his business??

Anonymous said...

Yep, and AWB is going Kelty's PIO.

What I find scary is the rumor going around that if Kelty would happen to win, he will name Marla Irving as deputy mayor. Ugh! I can see it now - a mayor you can't trust paired with a deputy mayor voted the least respected and least liked person in the county. Somebody help us!
