My Hotel

Its happened once again. Grand aspirations have been modified again. We've gone from a J.W. Marriott, to a Marriott, to a Courtyard.

In designs we've gone from:

To:

Fort Wayne has an open canvas for this catalyst project. A project that is suppose to excite people and drive more development. We have an opportunity to bring something new and great to the city.

To me, this already looks like it has been done before by Courtyard. HERE

Status Quo City

When I look to a city for great architectural and economic achievement, Oakland is not what I have in mind.

Maybe Matt Kelty can come up with a great architectual achievement that will move us past the Status quo....

HA HA HA, just kidding.

I think we would all have to be pretty frank and admit that anything Kelty would design would be better than this boring box courtesy of Graham Richard and associates.

Ah, the standard McHotel (for this chain) design.

I am somewhat less than shocked.

I am confused. What exactly did everyone expect/want...I guess I just don't understand what the complaints are of the hotel or the design. There is a reason large chains use 'mchotels' as was stated above. Travelers Want familiar layouts and facades. Any marketer knows this---especially successful corps like the Marriott. Having this type of hotel makes sense: it has broader appeal and also allows the Hilton to continue to target those who want a slightly upper tier hotel.

It is too bad that this site has really turned into a haven for whiners and complainers. I have no doubt that if there had been an expensive upper tier Marriott there would be a plethera of posts complaining about the high cost for an overnight stay.

It is too bad that this site could not become a place for people to think outside the box and look at things in a more positive and progressive light.

I think people are trying to think outside the box.

Too bad nobody thought outside the box for this clunky hotel design.

Color me disappointed.

Think outside the box? That's exactly what we want. This hotel is plain and boring.

Um, the original design was a big ugly box. At least this hotel has a bit of character to it.

Are you all more troubled by the design, or the fact that it is a Courtyard?

For all of you who want the higher priced, fancy hotel...I hear the Conrad in Downtown Indy is desperately looking for some hotel guests.

Don't forget, at the end of the day this hotel still has to MAKE A PROFIT.

No, it will never make a true profit.

The thing will have been subsidized from start to finish. It will never pay its own costs so it will never make a real profit.
