My Favorite Things in the Fort-Part One

I love taking new people around Fort Wayne. Their first impression of the city is great. Huge, yellow sound barriers and strip clubs at every exit.

They know why Fort Wayne is called Fort Wayne.

I really love how the sound barriers block every view into the city. No one wants to see the downtown skyline. I hate that place.

We really do owe to all those new home owners along the highway. They had no idea how loud the highway would be when they purchased their house. We taxpayers owe them!

The Stste put in the walls, without public input. Some are scheduled to come down. After you finish school, move to Fort Wayne. You might become more informed about local issues.

Actually, there was a lot of public input - meetings, etc., and a fair amount of media coverage. The fact that they were a waste of money....well....that's another story.

No, there was no public input. The walls are not there because neighborhoods requested them.

Who cares where the walls came from and who paid for them? Nothing says "Welcome to Fort Wayne" like concrete walls.

I remember where Fort Wayne voted 69 to be the place to have a scenic drive. One year later - giant cement walls.

I dunno, those concrete walls also block the public's view of one of the biggest trailer parks I have ever seen...and the view of a lot of peoples' landfill-like back yards. They definitely have their place...I think some people have actually forgotten what is behind some of those walls...

I love taking out of town families to the Zoo. We come up 69 and pass miles and miles of concrete walls.

We then exit on Goshen Road to at least 4 strip clubs.

Nothing says family fun like cement walls and strip clubs

That's funny...I don't think I'd ever considered going down Goshen Road for the scenery. Isn't that pretty much a commercial/industrial trucking corridor?

Thought so.

I don't think it's really intended as a hub for consumer traffic, but maybe I'm just mislead by the truckstop, the Semi sales/service shops, the UPS and FedEx hubs, Fort Wayne Clutch or the sheet metal fabricating shop....or the hardware distributors...

I'm sorry...but exactly how would one propose to dress THAT up?

Makeup on a pig, my friends.

Absolutely LOVE the Crue ! If we didn't have the sound barriers, where else would we be able to spray paint some love for the Crue and all the other cool bands from the 80's ???

we should have those barriers in the city too so that we can drive faster on the streets

I was thinking more along the lines of "Escape from New York"...(call me Snake)

...Or would that be retitled: "EXSCAPE fum Da Fort"?
