My Study into Studies

I don't know about you, but I love studies. We can not have enough studies, I mean how can someone ever get tired of seeing facts on paper. I think it stems from me loving to read facts and fascinating details about how great our city could be. I hate to see these studies turn into anything actually productive or any progress come to fruition.

I mean look how many studies we commissioned about new facilities and plans our downtown should take. HERE
Those are only a few, with more in the works, and some I'm sure I've missed a few.

We've only been looking into the idea of downtown development for the last couple of decades. We shouldn't rush into anything, because lets face it, we can't risk it.

I think we need to stop, take a breath, examine our positions, commission a study on risk, then commission another study on studies. I could be wrong here, but we don't to take a gigantic blind leap, after all doesn't the saying go, "all great things involve little or no risk"

I couldn't agree with you more. We need more studies for our studies. Also, we need a lot more inpurt at town hall meetings and what have you. Let's not rush to move Fort Wayne into the future.

I really enjoyed Shoaff's presentation last night. His data was so old it predated farm team baseball.

Shoaff argued that sports do not attract surrounding businesses. Harrison Square would not have condos or retail without the ballpark.

Doesn't this project include surrounding businesses from day one?

Find one city in any of the information Shoaff provided that:

1. Included additional development from the beginning of the project

2. Included a baseball team owner that is also a downtown real estate developer

What we need to do is appoint a blue ribbon panel. To really study the issue to determine if we should hire another consultant, one that also happened to contribute money to our last campaign

Before we appoint a blue ribbon study committee, lets make sure to form a committee to discuss how we will form the blue ribbon study committee.

hey, as long as there are more studies and consultants involved.. im for it... lets just hire consultants to study the study by other consultants.. times 50.. lets do that. Maybe in 50 years we will move Fort Wayne into the new millenium.

Fort Wayne will ONLY hire consultants that are based somewhere toher then Fort Wayne...

They obviously think that there is no way any Fort Wayne native could have the skill to be a consultant...
