My Brilliance

Article HERE

I'm all for government consolidation - county and city converging would save money and would allow the system to operate more efficiently. Police definitely need a new building, so why not build it downtown.

The part of the article that really caught my eye was -

The county is discussing whether to construct a building for Allen County Community Corrections that would include temporary housing for former state prisoners.

But Commissioner Nelson Peters has suggested that the building could include room for the police department, another option York said he’d like to discuss.

Although Peters has spoken with city leaders about that possibility, county officials don’t know whether that project will happen. They are waiting to learn how much money the state Department of Correction is willing to contribute toward constructing a new building, Peters said.

What a great idea, try to lure people downtown to eat, watch ballgames, walk around, and live - but also have a giant transition house for previous state prisoners. I hear they make great neighbors!

Want to live downtown Fort Wayne? Screw "The Harrison" - get arrested!

tear down the old hq. build a new "taj mahal" for the cops. spend millions!
make sure we line the right pockets with the right political graft.
I bet the cops just hate their HQ in that high crime area. why is it so high crime, with the density of the PD? or is it the density of the PD?
stupid cops. stupid citizens.
Now the cops can arrest all those new targets roaming around the "revitalized downtown"- lots of cash for the local lawyers, and courts. This city stinks! its rotten and corrupt to the core.
