My Letters

Great letters to the editor keep flooding the editorial pages of our news papers. Read this one HERE

I care deeply about this community and am concerned about the many chilling and disturbing events of the past six months.

During the past months, we have been fed a steady diet of the most unfair, mean-spirited, petty, divisive, nitpicking and hateful criticism of one mayoral candidate - Matt Kelty. And this young man has never answered in any manner other than with the utmost respect and kindness. His moral courage throughout has been commendable.

A few questions need to be asked.

Has any reporter thought to check out and analyze the birthday cakes/pies/gifts of other candidates this year? Why Kelty? Has any other candidate had a pastry that bashed other local politicians? Posted on their campaign website? How about bashing politicians belonging to the same party as the aforementioned candidate?

Is anyone from either party interested in where Tom Hayhurst or other past candidates got the money that they loaned their own campaigns? Or are the wealthy given a pass? Maybe because it was actually their money, they had an actual plan to pay back the money, and the loan wasn't from the President of an interest group that has endorsed the candidate

Do any of the media care about the “intolerance” felt by Christians? Intolerance felt by Christians? This is a first. Last time I checked this is the city of Churches, not Mosques or Temples. Sorry, lady, I believe that the AFA is handing out about as much intolerance this community can handle.

Why are voters not supposed to hear about past city ordinances that Tom Henry was responsible for putting into law? You mean the legislation that he put forward to promote the tolerance that you'd like Christians to have? I believe people have heard that.

Why no criticisms about the blatant betrayal of loyalty by Mark Souder against Kelty? Why is not straight ticketing such a bad thing? Why stop at Souder- how about all the Republicans for Henry?

Why no news reports last spring of a supposedly “high” Republican official caught pulling out Kelty signs and replacing them with Nelson Peters signs? Uh, there was - check the newspapers last Spring. Why are you still stuck on the primary?

Soon we have to make a decision and vote for mayor of this good city. Vote for economic growth with limited government. Vote for common decency, common sense and respect for all citizens.

Vote for Kelty.

“Justice - the hope of all who suffer, the dread of all who wrong.”

Is this letter from that crazy lady, Anita McMahon? This isn't her first letter to the Editor.

PICK, PICK, PICK

Stop picking on Matt !! I mean it - you don't even know Matt !

Matt is a symbol of all that is good and pure in a man. He is a loving father, terrific husband and devoted Christian. Why do you continue to crucify a good man - STop I say, stop this hate.

Matt will be found not guilty of all charges. You will see. He will lead this city of God back up on the top of the mountain where it rightfully belongs !!

ahhh.... to kelty's goodness:

If you're FOR REAL, you should shut up. You are only making it worse for Kelty.

Anonymous 7:53 apparently has a hard time deciphering sarcasm.

Below is a letter that is just as crazy endorsing Crawford for City Council.

Kelty is a liar plain and simple. If there aren't enough people who can't see through that phony, lying, smirky smile of his and he ends up being elected, this city is doomed.

Anon @ 7:53,

Google "leave Britney alone". You'll thank yourself.

Anyhow, I'd love to know where these people find this supposed intolerance of Christians. I've certainly never seen it.

My questions are these: How much money was “loaned” to Kelty’s opponents from Hardball Capitol and their Wizards team to support their campaign and turned into the Election Board the same identical way that Kelty turned in the $158,000 he is being condemned on? After all it is his opponents and even some of his own party members pushing Harrison Square down Fort Wayne’s throat and pushing it through channels so fast before the election. Are they that worried they will lose the election that they have to act as fast as they did on it? I think so.

As for the cake issue, excuse me but from what I've seen it was against those so called members of the Republican party that are suppose to be on the same team as Kelty, and who turned their backs on him rather than to stand up for him. But that is because those who turned on Kelty are Shine's golden team who are against Kelty because their golden boy didn't win the primary. If the cake had depicted the Democrats, I suppose it would have been ok and nothing said about it. Come on people, jokes happen!

Why isn’t the Kelty campaign attacking their opponents like he is being attacked? I say because because it takes a bigger person to ignore the words and dirty tactics and shows who the bigger and more honorable person really is in this election. Especially when Kelty is not only being slammed so hard by his opponents in the election mudslinging tantrums but is being ruined on a personal level regarding his archetectural status and his family well-being. But this just shows Fort Wayne that when desperate circumstances call for desperate measures, the losing team will stoop lower than a snake to win!

Apparently Cathy has been duped just like the others.
Say what you want to, Cathy...Mr. Kelty is a liar. The drink of choice on Tuesday night will be Kool-Aid for sure!

Cathy -

I read your first paragraph 3 times, and still didn't understand what points you were trying to make.

Secondly, the cake. I forget, but did Souder still have his endorsement on the table before the kuchen came around??? I see that the republicans being sore losers in the primary is still a popular blame tactic though. Matt Kelty has done a decent job distancing himself from the "Good Old Boys Club" - in which several Kelty supporters are saying they will be glad to get rid of. Which one would you have? Their support, or them out of office?

The third paragraph is where you are completely lost. The only ones that have been verbally critical or attacked Kelty are ones writing Letters to the editors, Bloggers, and various others (and vice versa to Henry). The only opponent Kelty has and should be worried about is Henry, and he basically defended him during the second debate. So who do you want Matt to lash back out at- Souder?
You also say, (Matt) "is being ruined on a personal level regarding his architectural status and his family well-being." Where is his architectural status being ruined? Also, in my opinion a major screw up to his family well-being is that he's taken out a massive loan, in which the terms are nearly impossible to meet.
