Mayor: Matt Kelty - (It's all about the KELTY MANDATE! Peters didn't get it, Cathy Hawks et.al. doesn't get it, Henry doesn't get it.)
Council 4th Dist.: Chris Stewart - (Young, energetic, new ideas, actual experience in helping with a downtown ballpark development in Toledo)
At Large: Brown Shoaff - (our most reasonable councilman) Crawford - (the women in my family are really pleased with the smoking ban, I'm still ticked at him for Harrison Square vote without public input, but...women win)
Other Districts: 1st - Smith 2nd - Schmidt 3rd - Didier 5th - Buskirk 6th - Smith
Voter Turnout: 48%
Favors Kelty. When the conservatives get riled up enough to come out and vote, the conservative wins. eg. "W's" huge numbers in '04
With all the Kelty Krazies jumping up and down on street corners with their Kelty signs and accosting people, begging for votes at the polls, Kelty may win. Yes, they are kids doing it, but it shows enthusiasm for Kelty. I wish it could be outlawed. Those nuts on Coliseum Blvd. waving their signs are a danger to drivers. The freaks at the polls who jump out at you when you're getting out of your car are annoying. But it's the older people who vote, and they like enthusiasm.
I pray sanity prevails next Tuesday and Henry is voted in.
Kelty (I believe we will see results similar to the primary. Kelty was polled slightly behind then too, but still beat Peters. With the grassroots focus my guess is that he will beat Henry too.)
Council Districts:
Smith Schmidt Didier Harper Pape Smith
At-large
Crawford Shoaff Brown
...not necessarily for or against any of these. Just what I think.
Do we get a prize for answering the bonus right? :)
re: anonymous - "Slightly behind???!! are you kidding me."
If Kelty was polling ahead of Peters like you say, why did everyone think he didn't even stand a chance? I'm confused. It's funny though to think that May wasn't even that long ago, but so much has happened since then it seems like we're studying history. Wow.
Yes, I am also thinking voter turnout somewhere between 20-25%. The papers have already been predicting a low turnout too based on the # of absentee ballots they have received thus far and other factors.
I will take 31-32 percent voting. With an error factor of +/- 2. Based on survey of the few working brain cells I have left. No Zogby poll here, just a pure gut guess.
My god, Kelty's own polls 2 weeks before the election had him ahead and he released them to the press. My knowledge came from a simple reading of the newspaper.
What people thought early on became irrelevant towards the end when everybody knew Kelty had caught up.
Kyle, simple math. He was ahead in poll so he relased the results. Now he does not release his results. I am guessing it is because he is getting crushed. just a hunch.
The GOOD: Although Kelty wins, his conviction on six of the felony charges in February 2008 removes him from office. State Representative Randy Borror is drafted to take over the mayor's office.
The BAD: During his pre-conviction tenure as mayor, Kelty, who is more insufferable than ever, vows to walk on the water of the St. Joe River, feed the multitudes with bread from the Popp family bakery, and resurrect a dying downtown in three days using only the free market.
The UGLY: Kelty halts construction on Harrison Square to instead erect his glass dome over downtown. Hundreds are injured by shattering glass due to miscalculations in Kelty's own architectural designs. However, Kelty supporters blame Andy Downs, Karen Richards and Steve Shine.
CITY COUNCIL: T. SMITH, SCHMIDT, DIDIER, HARPER, BUSKIRK, J. SMITH, SHOAFF, BENDER, CRAWFORD
The GOOD (for the GOP): Due to Kelty's polarizing effect on the Republican Party, a flood a GOP voters go to polls. While they split on the mayor's race, GOP voters sweep Republicans into a nine-to-zero majority on City Council.
The BAD: Dubbed the "Kid Didier and the Seven Old White Guys" (nobody actually pays attention to Joe Smith, council's lone black person), council adopts a twist on daylight saving time. Instead of moving back the clock, council moves the calendar back to 1956.
The UGLY: Although none of these old guys will live forever, Kelty's Kool-Aid Kidz are being groomed to run in future council races.
The cold weather tomorrow (predictions of snow), will hold overall turnout to around 35%. Kelty wins by 4 points, +/- 1, goes on to become historic footnote in the otherwise dull story of Mayor Didier's term.
Council winners are Smith, Goldner, Didier, Harper, Pape, Hines, Brown, Crawford and Shoaff.
25% voter turnout (maybe lower). Kelty wins Mayor by a hair. This drives Henry supporters insane.
Council at Large
Liz Brown, John Shoaff and John Crawford (in that order)
The rest of Council:
Schmidt (by a hair--it will be close and surprise the pundits) Tom Smith (5th top vote getter) Tom Didier (3rd top vote getter) Glynn Hines (4th top vote getter) Tim Pape (2d top vote getter) Mitch Harper (top vote getter)
Kelty took this last chance to lie to the Fort Wayne public. In tonights Sentinel, take a look at his add. Does nothing but lie, mislead and exaggerate the truth. I am really afraid he's going to win and this city which is teetering on doom and moving forward will be left in his ashes. Get out and vote for Henry, even if you have to crawl to your precienct.

Mayor: Kelty (He has the grass roots)
CC At Large:
Brown
Crawford (not my pick but i think he will win)
4th Dist: Harper
Voter Turn Out: i think we will be surprised... i'm gonna guess 59%.
Slightly behind???!! are you kidding me. In the primary, Kelty was polling a few points ahead. Remember the poll he released.
He didnt release one this time because he is behind by huge numbers. Talk about denial.
Put a kid jumping up and down on every corner in Fort Wayne and Kelty still loses by double digit percentage.
Gerbers???!!!
59% voter turnout. Are you kidding me?
You guys have all lost grasp of reality. You have a core group of Kelty zealots that number about 100 and you think they number 10,000.
59%!!!! Are you kidding me?? It will be closer to 25%

If it snows as predicted the turnout may be lower than 25%
I love how John Kalb believes that both Bobs, Horner, and Larsen will all win. That should invalidate any opinion he ever has about anything.
Henry will be Mayor, getting the job he never wanted. There are only so many Turkettes and Sylvesters in the world.
Crawford will win, proving that Fort Wayne really is the dumbest city in America.
Bender will win, because he used to do the traffic of whatever on the radio.
shoaff will win in an astounding vote of common sense.
No libertarian will get more than 8% of the vote.
I'll be out of town tuesday so I voted today. Henry for mayor and a straight repub ricket otherwise.
Henry with close to 60%, and total voter turnout will be in the mid-30's

I have been sucked in by this.
Here are my PICKS. Some of my picks are not even people I plan on voting for, if I could. It is just a gut feeling on how things will shake out.
Mayor - Kelty (if he wins it will be a small margin)
1st - Smith
2nd - Schmidt (could be an upset in the making much like Kelty almost sending Moses packing)
3rd - Didier
4th - Harper (just can not see that many GOP voters crossing over)
5th - Pape (if this goes any other way it should send a clear message to the new City Council)
6th - Hines (just can not see that many Democrat voters crossing over)
At Large
Shoaff
Crawford (if he wins will be smallest margin he has ever won by)
Wide open for the third spot.
The Libs may pull a spot out here but not seeing as clear cut. However, the Lib slate will collect enough votes to make the third spot a tight race.
What I am waiting for is to see what the local bloggers make of the results. However they come out.
Once the vote is in we may be able to understand what the voters considered key issues to them.
WHO I WANT TO WIN
Henry

WHO I THINK WILL WIN

Shoaff - 1st
