My Selections

I was hoping for the Mayor's race to have two opponents that we'd all be excited about. I think FW got anything but that. I was really interested in Kelty at first- I thought he had some great ideas, but unfortunately the cloud of uncertainty that surrounds him has made most of us look at him differently. I believe that there are quite a few explanations of why things were handled the way things were. For an example, the one that baffles me most is that - Matt claimed no knowledge of the AFA commercial, when a supporter/volunteer for his campaign did the voice over. There is just something off.

I agree with his "market driven economy" ideas, but I believe that will only work if there is already a strong market. Fort Wayne can't just sit with open arms, whistling at businesses, and trying to encourage them to locate here. We need to instigate and attract.

As for Henry, I agree with his ideas and initiatives as well, but I'm left a little uninspired. I do believe that Henry wants to win, but in contrast to the desire Matt has, there is a big difference.
I think it will just take a bit for him to warm up to the microphone.

I truly believe that this race was Kelty's to lose, and I believe he's done just that- and unfortunately, it wasn't a loss on the issues, it was everything else that involved Matt Kelty's name. My bet, goes to Henry.

1 Smith
2 Goldner - Big fan of a change of the guard.
3 Didier
4 Harper - I'm still up in the air about him
5 Pape - soon to be voted most fashionable dresser of City Council.
6 Hines

At Large - Crawford, Bender, I think Shoaff will grab it, but believe Brown does have a chance.

Go out and vote tomorrow. Our elections are part of what makes this country great, it is sad that we don't have higher turn outs. Remember, if you don't vote, you can't bitch.

I’m not speaking here on behalf of the campaign in any way, but I would like to point out one thing that you may find helpful:

I happen to be best friends with the person that did the voiceover for the AFA ad and I also work with Matt four days a week. My friend has worked at the radio station at which the ad was recorded for several years and he was given the task to do the voiceover by the station.

I can tell you with certainty that Matt did not know that this supporter had recorded the ad. As a matter of fact, his campaign manager asked me the next day if I knew who had done the voiceover from the station.

Maybe that can help clear up any doubt you had regarding that issue.

Wow. Maybe you can clear up something else. Has Kelty LISTENED to the ad yet?
Sheesh!

To answer your (probably-intended-to-be-rhetorical question):

Yes, he has.

Wow, Andrew K. is predicting Crawford!

I believe Mr. Kelty should win, but there are no guarantees at this point. If Fort Wayne reelects Dr. Crawford they deserve everything they get.

Kyle, it may have been completely coincidental. I have a hard time believing that a 19 year old, who is as energetic and enthusiastic about the Kelty Campaign as Daniel is, that he did not inform him of his contribution.

I'm writing in Jodi Dean for Mayor!

I like how Matt Kelty seems to have "no knowledge" of anything that causes controversy. So if for some messed up reason he wins, if anything ever bad happens, he will know NOTHING about it. What a fake! This is one guy who will NOT be getting my vote!!!!!

Dear Anonymous, (assuming Mr. Knuth doesn't stay up blogging this late)

Sure Kelty has had some missteps a seasoned politician should avoid. The allure of Kelty is that he's not a seasoned politician.

How could anybody vote for Tom Henry?

Tom Henry wasn't even considered a viable candidate even 4 months before the primary elections. As late as February this year, the Democratic part had yet to name a candidate, (although there was already someone registered to run as Democrat for mayor)

Tom Henry was politically "Fired" by his constituents in the 3rd district because after 20 years, he had lost touch with his community.

Tom Henry didn't put together a platform until after the indictments of Kelty and the Republican meltdown, he didn't have to.

Tom Henry has raised twice as much money from sources outside of Fort Wayne as Kelty has raised total.

Tom Henry's new "initiatives" sound suspiciously like reactions to the issues Kelty has brought to the forefront as the TRUE concerns of the average citizen of Fort Wayne.

Tom Henry was on City Council for 20 years and, according to the statistics, the combined sewers poured raw Fort Wayne sewage from Fort Wayne toilets into the Fort Wayne rivers at least 2000 times. That's a lot of stuff happening on Henry's watch.

Tom Henry keeps saying "my wife" owns a bar. Yet he is proud to be the owner of a business. Why can't he just be honest and say "we own a bar."

Tom Henry's campaign was managed by an East Coast Democratic Party professional campaigner.

Tom Henry's commercials were produced by a company from outside of Indiana.

Tom Henry really seemed during the debates to be wondering what he's gotten himself into. Pale as a ghost, bumbling with answers. The most relaxed he seemed to be was when he was talking about his family and talking about if Matt Kelty would be a good mayor. He said Matt would and that he would like to be his deputy mayor. I don't think Henry really desires the responsibility.

Tom Henry's solutions to our financial woes always are "more taxes" or new "untapped tax revenue streams." Personally, I can't afford to have that type of mentality in city government.

The Answer: Evan Bayh's Public Endosement.
The Question: What does Hilliary Clinton and Tom Henry have in common. ...Bayh, I wish he could be president, he couldn't screw America up any worse than it is and Indiana would continue to see its tax dollars come home rather than squandered in Alaska and Massachusetts.

I have to vote for Kelty tomorrow because he's had the right vision for Fort Wayne for the longest time. He's a young father and businessman like me. He has more energy and excitement for Fort Wayne. We need more corporations to move to Fort Wayne, and his energy and enthusiasm will sell our city much better than Tom Henry will. (More people to pay more taxes...that's the "untapped tax revenue stream" I get excited about!)

I also have to vote Chris Stewart for 4th district city council. I cannot vote for Mitch Harper.

These two would bring fresh new voices on behalf of the people to Fort Wayne leadership.

I just did. It it felt goooood !!

I think deep down inside, CFW wants Kelty to win so they can keep kovering the Krazy Karnival that will occur if Kelty wins.

Lets face it, he might not be able to serve a full term if the law wins

Stewart, Shoaff, Brown and Essex

*I was at a lunch today with some women from our church who hadn't voted yet. I didn't even talk politics, but they said that they wrote down the names of people who voted for Harrison Square so they could remember who not to vote for. They are all over 70 years old and politically savvy. Interesting.

Old people don't like Harrison Square - shocking!

Funny, I overheard young people discussing that they only voted for candidates that were PRO Harrison Square.
