I don't know about you, but I love the rants and the editorials in the papers. Typically these are one way soapboxes, but I feel the need to display the gems that are in today's Rants. Read them HERE
Fort Wayne doesn’t need another baseball stadium. Why don’t the mayor and city council think big and build a NASCAR racetrack downtown? Amazing
I’m reading … about the city discussing buying the 29-acre old OmniSource property. That’s better than $5,000 an acre for land that’s in the flood plain and isn’t good for anything. Why would the city want to spend $4.3 million? If you spent your money like they’re spending your money, you wouldn’t last. 5000 (stated price per acre) x 29 (arces) = 4300000 (total purchase price of OmniSource land). Quite a statement. Actually, if you are trying to impress people with the high amount of money the city is considering paying for acreage, its more like 150k per acre. It isn't good for anything? I guess the coveted waterpark that is being considered because everyone is screaming about it - isn't worth anything.
I knew Washington, D.C., has lobbyists, and I know Indianapolis has lobbyists, but I didn’t know Fort Wayne has lobbyists. Harrison Square was voted in because of the businessmen, not because of what the people wanted. Incredible
I wonder what the average age is of the opponents of FWCS improvements and Harrison Square. I am guessing that they are not the young people that are vital to the success of Fort Wayne. Why can’t the old guard make way for the next generation of Fort Wayne citizens? Finally - a positive one.
