My Confusion XL

From The Journal Gazette:

"Kelty’s campaign finance reports previously showed him lending his campaign $156,000 of his own money. Last week, Kelty revealed that those loans, plus a previously undisclosed $2,000 loan, originally came from members of his campaign staff.

Jehl and her husband, Steve, lent Kelty $10,000. Fred Rost, a campaign adviser, lent Kelty $150,000, of which, Kelty has used $148,000 for the campaign.

After filing the amended campaign finance report, Kelty maintained that nothing was done wrong. The loans were not given specifically for the campaign, he said."

Uhhhhhhhhhhh.........

First law on holes-when you're in one, stop digging

The loan was not specifically for the campaign?

What was he planning on using the money for?

A new pool? Lake Cottage? A Hummer? Donation to the Church?

Fort Wayne Observed is reporting that Kelty has engaged a renowned Election Law Expert. Kelty is clearly worried and should be.

Can you imagine why any donor would give to this campaign knowing that Kelty will need to raise $250,000 JUST to pay off his personal loan and attorney fees?

He needs to raise a quarter of a million dollars to get to break even and then raise the first dollar that can be spent to run against Tom Henry.

This attorney has represented Right to Life groups before. Coincidence?

WWMD?

I seriously doubt Kelty can afford this type of representation. If he's not paying for it, who? And, would that be considered a campaign contribution?

Maybe AWB is paying for it?

There are several people who belive that the right to life folks are pushing very hard to get Kelty in the mayors office so they can launch him into congress. The speculation is that they can have someone who is 100% in their camp. Is rtl money being funneled through Rost and then to Kelty?
