Low turnout hurts Republicans’ chances
The primary election proved that we are, in fact, the dumbest city in America as reported by Men’s Health magazine. It needs to add “laziest” to our description. The election was on a beautiful day with many important issues being debated and we had a record low turnout at the polls. For any Republican who voted for the architect, it was pretty much a vote for a Democrat because there is no way he will beat Tom Henry in November. Being a Republican, I would like to see a credible candidate take on Henry in the fall. Unfortunately, that candidate will not get the chance.
JENNA McEVOY
Hmmm. A Change Fort Wayne Detective in Bloomington let us know that Ms. McEvoy is currently dating the son of Nelson Peters. That's why she is a little upset.
See facebook snap shot below.

Very interesting. Nice work
she's right though
It's true, if the voters of Ft. Wayne weren't so darn lazy, we wouldn't have an architect running for mayor when there was a very capable man in the running.
Yeah. I have to agree with this girl. Although I like Henry better than Peters. I'm definitely a little worried Henry won't pull through. I wouldn't be nearly as worried had Peters beaten Kelt.
As much as I don't want to see Kelty as Mayor of Fort Wayne, maybe Ms. McEvoy should have knocked on a few more doors. Maybe she should have convinced her boyfriend's father to not waste his time on trying to use his status as commish to halt the Harrison Square decision.
Kelty won because he ran a better campaign than Peters. Plain and simple.
This tirade seems more than a little childish. I wonder what Nelson will think about it when he reads it? Didn't Nelson throw his support behind Kelty?
Voter turnout was certainly embarassingly low (what is the average for a primary? I seem to remember talking about this with CFW and PoD), but a campaign needs to get people to the polls.
Obviously my personal hope is that Peters has finally given people a reason to get out and vote. Vote for Henry.
Kelty did do a good job of getting people out to vote. The Right to Life people in particular. But what do they have to do with running the city?
If Harrison Square wouldn't have been THE ISSUE, Peters would have won hands down. I got a copy of his "Fort Wayne First" outlining his plan for the city. It all made good sense. Economic developement, safety, jobs, brain -drain, neighborhood improvement. Nobody cared about it though. The only thing people cared about was Harrison Square which made no sense because it was a done deal. The new mayor will just have to make the best of it. Too bad Ft. Wayne is so single minded, because this isn't a one-issue city. I believe Mr. Peters thought bringing decent jobs to Fort Wayne was a major priority.
Okay so maybe Kelty also cheated a little bit. That said, Peters campaign wasn't very good.
and yes I do realize Right to Life has nothing to do with being Mayor. We've discussed that more than once on this blog.
I wouldn't be so sure. Ten years ago, we would have said banning cigarettes has nothing to do with running a city, now apparently it does.
The big government, more regulation, City Council might decide to tackle abortion some day, who knows?
abortion rights will never be settled on a local level.
Actually we do know.
It won't ever happen, anon.
And ten years they said that about cigarettes. That's all I'm saying.
I still remember when a friend of mine laughed at me when I said five years ago that next they would be suing fast food restaurants.

the primary is over. Kiss "Fredo" Nelson Peters for Mayor good-bye.
If you want 4-12 more years of Graham Richard, Win Moses, Mark GiaQuinta, Brian Steer, and the rest of the local "Party of Steers, and Queers"- farther left than the nuttiest left- wing Whackjob; and prancing fairies everywhere, eyeballing your children; with Paul Helmke, and his ilk taking your guns away,)
then by all means, vote for Tom Henry.
If you GOPhers dont get over it, and unite behind someone who might Change fort Wayne for the better-Less Govt, less police state , more freedoms- Vote for Kelty. give the man all the rope he, and the pro-lifers need....
Steve Shine in '09!
Dear detective,
You are a creepy loser for looking her up on facebook. Get a life
I know we all ignore Roach--with good reason. But, although I can let all the creepy, ranting and chanting go...the name calling is par for course and grammar has never been his strong suit-but you have been slamming the man for years, can't you at least get his name correct? Stier. Brian Stier. Not steer. Certainly even you can read?
