I thought this song would be appropriate.
Back home again in old Fort Wayne,
And it seems that I can see
The gleaming chain restaurant signs, still shining bright,
Down Coliseum Boulevard for me.
The burning leaves send off their fragrance
Through the cul-de-sacs I used to roam.
When I dream about the moonlight on the polluted Maumee
How I long for my Fort Wayne home.

I'm a bit disappointed that you didn't do this as an audio clip, CFW. How multi-media would THAT have been.
Hope you have a nice trip home and that you do the dishes after your mom makes you Mother's Day dinner.
Welcome back!
What old haunts will you be visiting while you're back in the summit city?
Happy Mother's Day to any moms that might read this blog.
Are most of the contributors here currently living in Fort Wayne?
Danny,
Half of the contributors live in Fort Wayne, and the other half grew up in Fort Wayne and will likely move back again some day.
I will also be back this weekend to attend an old friend's wedding and for Mother's Day. I gotta say I'm really looking forward to it. Flight leaves in just a few hours.
I will be making a stop at El Azteca, and probably a trip to Columbia Street and/or 412 after the wedding reception. A round of golf somewhere with my dad, and maybe a trip to the Zoo with my nephew if there is enough time.
I would also like to say Happy Mother's Day to any Moms out there that are brave enough to read the ramblings here.
83, you sound like Frank.
"Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time."
Oh Danny Boy
I plan to spend a good amount downtown.
Hopefully we'll make a stop at Columbia Street West and maybe a stop at the Midwest's LARGEST...Pieres.
It'll be nice to be home for a few days!
If it rains, take your nephew to Science Central for a little bit and then to the new Downtown Library Children's section - there's a great big aquarium and this climbing pod thing that looks pretty fun.
The Library. I actually would like to stop there and check it out. Good suggestion and reminder Karen.
CFW, I almost put the requisite, "I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time" on my comment.
To bad there isn't a single A baseball stadium you can go to. Oh wait, that's coming.
My nephews from Noblesville LOVE the Headwaters Park fountain so we go there whenever we can. The "adaptive reuse" of that from "pretty edifice for people to look at" to "excellent place to run around and cool off in the summer" makes me smile every time I think of it.
"To bad there isn't a single A baseball"
there goes the skipping record again ....
If Frank the Tank is in town, I'll be on the look out for any streakers parading down Clinton St.
