My Economics

How dare Fort Wayne invest money in something that already exists. Check it out

Doesn't everyone know that we only should use money on expansion? The shopping already exists, are we reinvesting in the same project? To make it look nice? It looks fine the way it is.

Economic REARRANGEMENT BABY!

Seriously! You are actually comparing building a duplicate baseball stadium to needed public works upgrades in a heavily used retail corridor.

Like Mayor Richard Sammy and the others if you want us to follow your lead give us a credible reason to do so.

I've seen the drawings of the proposed ball park downtown, and anyone who thinks we are "duplicating" anything is gravely mistaken.

The current stadium is more like a cinder block...whereas the planned new stadium is....well, attractive...to say the least.

I know when I think of great ball parks in America, Memorial Stadium comes to mind. That cement block is so attractive and ideally located it's unbelievable.

What are the following? A cement block that is a great stadium and North Anthony, which is the most heavily used retail corridor in the US. Both false.

Memorial Stadium is a great stadium when compared to the St. Joe baseball diamond and North Anthony retail corridor is a the most heavily used retail corridor if you confine it to the greater North Anthony area.

I am actually for the businesses redoing that area, it would make that area look nicer but it would not accomplish anything else.

Just to be clear I am no fan of the concrete jungle on Coliseum Blvd. My point is that comparing North Anthony's possible public works upgrades to replacing a functional albeit unattractive baseball stadium is ridiculous.

Is that retail corridor not "functional" right now?

What are we missing?

I think a more appropriate comparison to the proposed North Anthony Corridor improvements would be to look at possible upgrades to the Memorial Stadium.

I believe the Harrison Square project is an inevitable. My intention was to point out that making absurd comparisons does not gain any support and in fact might turn fence sitters' support away.

Point taken.

I tend to agree with that.

I shudder to think about upgrading memorial stadium, however.

That area of Anthony could use a little improvement. There are some decent stores in that area.
